Description:
Middle range theory has become a vital staple of nursing education and application to research. These theories, which lie between the working hypotheses derived from day-today research and the larger, systemic efforts to develop unified theories, cover the scientific underpinnings that guide nursing practice and research. The most recent edition of the book won the AJN Book of the Year award in 2013, in the category of research. This edition of the book will incorporate exemplars linking middle range theory to advanced nursing practice, and a new chapter on exemplars will be added. It will also include more content for DNP programs, and an instructor's guide will be offered for the first time, to complement the book. Two new theories will be included in the new edition: Theory of Self and Family Management and the Theory of Self-Care of Chronic Illness.
